Comet ISON may have survived! Stay tuned!

For those of you who have been following the progress of Comet ISON and it’s travel towards the Sun the good news is it may have survived it’s quick slingshot and close scrape with the star. At first scientists weren’t sure as the many telescopes trained on the area hadn’t found much in terms of remnants. But today a bit of hope -as you can see something appears to come out from behind the sun (which is represented by the white circle). “The question remains whether it is merely debris from the comet, or if some portion of the comet’s nucleus survived, but late-night analysis from scientists with NASA’s Comet ISON Observing Campaign suggest that there is at least a small nucleus intact.” – from NASA/SOHO

If enough of the comet’s nucleus survived we may still get a nice show coming in December – just not as big and bright as if the whole comet had survived. Stay tuned to NASA!
